Day 2San Antonio Sightseeing - New Years Eve Party
Today see the best that San Antonio has to offer. Our first stop will be at the IMAX movie, “The Price of Freedom”, which recreates the events leading up to the famous battle at the Alamo. Next, tour the actual Alamo Mission where Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie fought for Texas independence in 1836. Following take a guided tour of the lavish, historic Steve’s Homestead, located in the city’s most exclusive residential area during the 1800’s. Enjoy an included lunch at the Guenther House, a charming residence once owned by San Antonio’s premier flour baron. Next ascend to the top of the Tower of the Americas to view the city from 750 feet. Your day will culminate with a visit to the fascinating Institute of Texas Cultures, displaying the rich ethnic diversity of the state. There will be time to visit the Spanish Mall. Return to your hotel with time to relax before tonight’s NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY. Bring in the year 2009 at the best party in town, complete with food and champagne!
Day 3Happy New Year!
Sleep late as a quiet day will be offered for your pleasure. Relax or venture out and stroll the Riverwalk. Later this morning, savor Brunch at the hotel before a narrated electric boat cruise on the 2 1/2 mile Paseo del Rio. Cruise along the Riverwalk, past its many hotels, sidewalk cafes, and musical amphitheaters. View the impressive holiday decorations that line the Riverwalk. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely afternoon and perhaps a bit of exploring of the Riverwalk’s unique architecture on your own.
Day 4Fredericksburg Day Trip
Spend a full day exploring the magnificent Hill Country of Central Texas and the quaint German town of Fredericksburg, originally settled in 1846. Visit the renowned Admiral Nimitz Museum, dedicated to the 2 million men and women who served under Nimitz in the Pacific during World War II. Exhibits here chronicle the Admiral’s life and career in the U.S. Navy. Enjoy lunch and shopping on your own. Then, drive to the nearby LBJ National Park, home of Lyndon Baines Johnson, our 36th President. You’ll see the first schoolhouse LBJ attended and a portion of his beloved ranch, famous for its prized Hereford Cattle. Enjoy a visit to the Mission San Jose. Established in 1720, it is considered the most beautiful of all Texas missions. Stop at the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum, home to an amazing collection of animal horns, mounted wildlife, and the infamous Buckhorn Bar. Tonight’s Farewell Dinner will be at the Barn Door Steak Restaurant.
