Day 1 & 2Edmonton / Calgary / Swift Current / Winnipeg, MB
Day 1: Your exciting Cross Canada holiday begins as you are welcomed aboard your luxury coach and cross the southern plains of Alberta into Saskatchewan. This evening, please join your tour director and fellow passengers for a Welcome Reception at the hotel.
Day 2: Today we continue across the prairies and overnight in Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba. A free evening tonight and an opportunity to see if “Lady Luck” is on your side at the Club Regent Casino.
Day 3 & 4Winnipeg / Thunder Bay / Sault Ste. Marie, ON
Day 3: A scenic drive across the Canadian Shield, past “Lake of the Woods” to Thunder Bay.
Day 4: Following the waters of the great Lake Superior, we travel to Sault Ste. Marie, Canada’s 2nd largest steel-producing city. Stops along the way include the Terry Fox Monument, the 9-meter Steel Goose Sculpture and Young’s General Store at Wawa, to munch on a pickle from the pickle barrel.
Day 5 & 6Sault Ste. Marie / Ottawa
Day 5: Continuing through Ontario, we reach Ottawa, our Nation’s Capital and one of the most popular cities of Canada to visit.
Day 6: A full morning of sightseeing with a local guide including a visit to the Parliament Buildings, Rideau Hall, Rideau Canal, Notre Dame Cathedral and much more. The afternoon is at your leisure to visit Byward Market.
Day 7Ottawa / Quebec City,PQ
We travel the beautiful Quebec countryside en route to Canada’s oldest city, Quebec. Upon arrival enjoy leisure time on the narrow streets of fabulous Old Quebec.
Day 8Quebec City
Discover Quebec City on a guided tour including: the Fortifications, Place d’Armes, Plains of Abraham, Cape Diamond, and the Citadel. We also visit the historic site of Montmorency Falls that has a spectacular lookout point over the St. Lawrence River and the Capital. A special treat tonight is a traditional “French” dinner at an authentic Sugar Shack.
Day 9Quebec City / Edmundston, NB
This morning we visit the famous woodcarvers of St. Jean Port Jolie . We enter New Brunswick the largest province of Atlantic Canada and a short drive brings us to the French Community of Edmundston. We stop at the Botanical Garden, comprised of 8 gardens and 2 arboreta, offering nature lovers a stunning setting to savour.
Day 10Edmundston / Fredericton / Saint John, NB
We follow the river valley scenic drive along Atlantic Canada’s most picturesque river. We stop to visit the Hartland Covered Bridge, the longest in the world. We continue to Fredericton and arrive at Kings Landing, a lively authentic village depicting the one hundred year transformation of a young colony into a vibrant nation. A short drive brings our happy travelers to Saint John.
Day 11Saint John / Moncton, NB
Today visit the natural phenomenon of the Reversing Falls where the Bay of Fundy tides force the Saint John River to reverse direction. This afternoon we travel through the Fundy National Park, on our way to the Hopewell Rocks to see the Flowerpots. These peculiar formations are forested islands at high tide and resemble flowerpots at low tide.
Day 12Moncton/Charlottetown, PEI
Our first stop this morning is the Magnetic Hill in Moncton, where you will witness your motorcoach coasting up-hill with no power. Then it’s off to the fishing village of Shediac for a photo opportunity with the Worlds Largest Lobster. We cross over the magnificent Confederation Bridge on our way to the province of Prince Edward Island. This evening experience the very best in Canadian theatre at the optional Anne of Green Gables Musical.
Day 13Charlottetown and PEI tour
A local guide will board our coach this morning and sightseeing today includes the Province House National Historic Site, Anne of Green Gables, Cavendish National Park, and the fishing village of North Rustico, just to name a few. This afternoon, sample some of the best preserves in the world at the Prince Edward Island Preserves Company. You are treated to a delicious lobster dinner.
Day 14Charlottetown / Cape Breton Island, NS
Leaving Charlottetown, we travel to Wood Islands and board the Ferry to Caribou on the Nova Scotia mainland. Via the Canso Causeway, we cross to Cape Breton Island. We drive along the pristine shores of Bras D’or Lake, where hundreds of bald eagles nest along the shore and the surrounding countryside. At Baddeck, we pay a visit to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, where we see the many inventions this genius fostered.
Day 15Cabot Trail
Today experience a picturesque trip around the renowned Cabot Trail and Margaree Valley. Along the way we visit Flora’s, a wonderful gift shop that features Cheticamp Rug Hooking. We tour Cape Breton Highlands National Park, with stops at Lone Shieling, Pleasant Bay and Neil’s Harbour.
Day 16Baddeck / Halifax, NS
A beautiful drive today past the Mira River to Louisbourg with a visit to the Fortress Louisbourg National Historic Site, where you find a reproduction of the original Fort including soldiers and civilians dressed and working as they did in 1744. Following a guided tour, you will be treated to lunch at the Fortress. En route to Halifax we pay a visit to Big Pond and sip a cup of tea at Singer/Songwriter Rita McNeil’s Tea Room.
Day 17Halifax, NS
Today a local guide takes you on a City Tour that highlights the Citadel, the Halifax Harbour, Pier 21, the Public Gardens and much more. We travel into the Annapolis Valley where the orchards and rolling farmlands encompass one of the most celebrated apple-growing regions in the world. We stop at Grand Pre National Park where you learn the interesting lifestyle and history of the Acadian people. It was on this site that much of Longfellow’s epic story “Evangeline” took place. We continue to Peggy’s Cove, one of the most picturesque spots in all of Nova Scotia.
Day 18 & 19Halifax / Bangor, ME / Montreal, QC
Day 18: Leaving Halifax, we travel the Lighthouse Trail through Mahone Bay and east to Yarmouth to board a beautiful vessel known as THE CAT. This is the fastest car ferry in North America and saves its passengers a full day’s drive. Enjoy her casinos, dining rooms, duty free stores and gift shops.
Day 19: Our route takes us across Maine through picturesque villages and panoramic valleys. We cross the International Border into Canada and arrive in Montreal. This afternoon a local guide will board our coach for a city tour including tour including Old Montreal, Mont-Royal, Chinatown, Little Italy and St. Joseph’s Oratory. Enjoy leisure time in Old Montreal before checking into our hotel for the evening.
Day 20Montreal / Kingston, ON
A short journey this morning brings our coach to Kingston. Hop on board the Confederation Trolley for an historic one-hour tour of the Limestone City including the campus of Queens University, one of Canada’s oldest learning institutions. You have leisure time this afternoon to visit the nearby market, walk along the boardwalk located right in front of our waterfront hotel or take a boat cruise of the St Lawrence Seaway.
Day 21& 22Kingston / Niagara Falls, ON / Frankenmuth, MI
Day 21: Fall is grand in Southwestern Ontario as we travel along the rolling countryside. Explore Niagara Falls including the Niagara Parkway, Commission Greenhouse, the Whirlpool and the Floral Clock. Don your raincoat and board the “Maid of the Mist” Cruise to get a close up view of these gigantic falls. To complete our stay in Niagara Falls, we take a short ride up the Minolta Tower and dine atop the tower that rises an impressive 525 feet above the Niagara gorge and provides a breathtaking view of the Horseshoe and American Falls
Day 22: We cross the border into Michigan and arrive in the Bavarian town of Frankenmuth. Enjoy sightseeing and a visit to Bronner’s, the world’s largest year-round Christmas store with beautifully landscaped grounds. Tonight, enjoy a world famous Frankenmuth-Style Chicken Dinner.
Day 23Frankenmuth / Mackinaw City, MI
Travel north through a very scenic area of Michigan to Mackinaw City, located on the shores of Lake Huron. This afternoon we board a hydroplane ferry, the “Bermuda of the North”, to Mackinac Island. Crossing the Strait of Mackinac, you see a wonderful view of the 5-mile long Mackinac Bridge. From the moment you arrive on the island, you are back in the 19th century. Since no motor vehicles are permitted, there is an unusual sense of peace and quiet. Experience the atmosphere of the island by Horse Drawn Carriage with free time to stroll through the historic downtown.
Day 24 & 25Mackinaw City / Duluth, MN / Minot, ND
Day 24: Our travels take us north this morning as we cross the Mackinac Bridge, which connects lower Michigan to its upper Peninsula. We drive along the north shore of Lake Michigan crossing into Minnesota, and arrive in Duluth, the Gateway to Lake Superior’s scenic north shore.
Day 25: We continue to cross Minnesota and enter North Dakota, passing through beautiful countryside and arrive in Minot, known as the Magic City.
Day 26 & 27Minot, ND / Swift Current / Calgary / Edmonton, AB
Day 26: We continue westward through North Dakota and cross the border into Canada for our last overnight stay. Join your tour director this evening for a farewell dinner.
Day 27: A day of travel as we cross into Alberta and reflect on a trip of memories with fellow travelers and newfound friends.
