Day 1:Home City / Salt Lake City, UT
Arrive in Salt Lake City and learn the story of the Mormons and their religion on a guided tour including the Mormon Temple and Tabernacle, the Utah State Capitol, Fort Douglas, the Pioneer Trail State Park and "This is the Place" Monument. Enjoy a welcome dinner at historic Lion House, once one of Brigham Young's official family residences, and now a church dining center. (D) Shilo Inn Downtown Note: Flights should arrive by noon
Day 2:Salt Lake City / Jackson Hole, WY
This morning attend the weekly broadcast performance of the renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Next, head for Idaho passing Bear Lake before entering Wyoming. Continue through Bridger-Teton National Forest and along the Snake River en route to picturesque Jackson Hole. A tasty barbecue dinner and Western entertainment are included here at the Bar J Chuckwagon. (B,D) Virginian Lodge
Day 3:Jackson Hole ŇWest Yellowstone, MT
First on today's itinerary is Grand Teton National Park, home of Jackson and Jenny Lakes, the Chapel of the Transfiguration, and the rugged towering Tetons. Next follow Rockefeller Memorial Parkway into splendid Yellowstone National Park. Pass Yellowstone Lake and see storied Old Faithful Geyser and Firehole Canyon and Falls on the way to West Yellowstone, Montana. (B) Brandin’ Iron Inn
Day 4:Yellowstone and Mammoth Hot Springs
The Yellowstone tour begins with the Norris Geyser Basin filled with an incredible variety of steam vents, mud pots, geysers, and hot springs. Explore Mammoth Hot Springs, enjoy scenic mountain vistas, and thrill to the awesome 1,200-foot-deep Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, including views from Inspiration and Lookout Points. Dinner is served tonight in West Yellowstone at Bullwinkle’s Saloon and Eatery. (B, D)
Day 5:Yellowstone / Thermopolis, WY
A trip through Shoshone National Forest brings us to Cody, named for "Buffalo Bill" himself. Tour the extensive Buffalo Bill Historical Center, featuring memorabilia of the famed showman. This afternoon travel to Hot Springs State Park to Thermopolis, Wyoming, home of the world's largest hot springs, where accommodations and soothing hot mineral whirlpools await in the park. Day 6:Thermopolis / Rapid City, SD
Our route today travels through Ten Sleep Canyon and the Big Horn Mountains, and features Devil's Tower, America's first national monument. This gigantic volcanic extrusion towers 865 feet above its base and 1,280 feet above the Belle Fouche River. We'll arrive late this afternoon in Rapid City, South Dakota, heart of the Black Hills, for a two-night stay and tonight's sunset lighting ceremony at Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Day 7:Rapid City / Deadwood, SD
This morning visit Mount Rushmore before traveling the Black Hills to colossal Crazy Horse Memorial, the world's largest statue, which will be 563 feet high and 641 feet long when completed! Later board the "1880 Train" for a ride on one of the country’s few remaining steam-powered trains. Finally, our tour of Deadwood includes Old Style Saloon #10, where Wild Bill Hickok was shot, the Mt. Moriah "Boot Hill," and tales of colorful Western characters. (B,D)
Day 8: Deadwood / Denver, CO
Return to Wyoming and visit Fort Laramie National Historic Site, once the most important military post west of the Mississippi. Today's destination is the "Mile-High City" of Denver, where a fun-filled "farewell" dinner has been planned at the popular Trail Dust Steak House. (B,D) LaQuinta Inn
Day 9:Denver / Home City
A guided morning tour of Denver includes such sights as the Colorado State Capitol, the U.S. Mint, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Larimer Square, Coors Field, City Park, the Cherry Creek shopping district and handsome residential areas. Connect with flights home this afternoon at Denver International Airport. (B)
