arrive in Brookings, a city that offers the best of
both small town and big city living. |

| Our travels south today will give you a chance
to enjoy the Corn Belt of America. Continue
along the picturesque Missouri River and arrive
in Kansas City.

| Day 5 | Kansas City - Little Rock, AR |
| Missouri’s rolling hills and winding lakes and
rivers are yours to enjoy as we travel through
the Ozark Mountains to Little Rock, Arkansas. |
| Day 6 | Little Rock - New Orleans, LA |
| Today enjoy the scenery as we pass lazy
bayous, blue lakes and ridge country into
Louisiana and arrive in New Orleans, which
is truly a city that captures the soul of
everyone that visits. |

Discover some of the wonderful highlights of
this city on a morning tour which includes the
Garden district, the Cities of the Dead, the
famous French Quarter and Jackson Square. This
afternoon see over 200 years of history unfold
on the Mississippi River as you sail on the Paddle
Wheeler “Natchez” Riverboat. Since this is a real steamboat, you'll hear the beautiful music of its calliope (a musical instrument powered by steam that is atop the steamboat).
Begin the day at the World-renowned New
Orleans Cooking School where you will enjoy
a cooking demonstration by Creole and Cajun
experts, get their secret recipes and sample their
delicious cuisine. The rest of the day is at leisure
for you to explore the multitude of attractions
that are available. Tour the superdome, do some
shopping, ride the streetcar, take a carriage ride,
visit the world famous Café du Monde for some
“beignets”, explore the many museums or listen
to some jazz. |
| Day 9 | New Orleans - Lafayette, LA |
| This morning travel through true bayou country.
Stop at Nottoway Plantation, which overlooks
the Mississippi River and is located on the edge
of the sugar cane fields. In the afternoon take
a swamp boat cruise into Bayou Country with
its tangled marsh grasses and cypress trees to
look for alligators and other wildlife. Tonight
experience Cajun hospitality at it’s best with
authentic Cajun and southern food and live
entertainment. |
| Day 10 | Lafayette - Houston, TX |
| What a treat is in store today! Visit
Vermilionville, a 23-acre historical property,
showcasing carefully crafted period homes
including crafts and cooking demonstrations.
Enjoy Cajun and Creole music, dance, story
telling, humor, crafts and cuisine that will make
our taste buds “dance”. Then travel north and
enter the Lone Star state of Texas. |
| Day 11 | Houston |
| Touring Houston this morning will demonstrate
the contrast from oil barons to Texas Cowboys,
along with fine medical facilities, exquisite
homes and innovative architecture. A special
highlight today is a visit to the Johnson Space
Centre, home of NASA. You will get to see
original spacecraft and a behind the scenes
look at Mission Control. |
| Day 12 | Houston - San Antonio, TX |
| This morning enjoy a visit to the Galleria,
Houston’s most popular shopping and
entertainment center. Say goodbye to Houston
and take a leisurely drive to San Antonio.
You will soon see why it is often called the
“American Venice”. Sidewalk cafes, historic
architecture and a beautiful river in the center,
make this a truly beautiful city. While in San
Antonio sit back and relax with new and old
friends at the hotel at a complimentary cocktail
reception held every evening. |

| The morning begins with a fascinating tour of San Antonio with all its Spanish flavor. View the film "Alamo - the Perfect Freedom" at the Imax Theatre to learn the story of the battle, then cross the street and visit the actual Alamo suite. Other stops today include the Japanese Sunken Gardens, and the Mission San Jose. This afternoon enjoy a splendid river tour along the San Antonio River and the Paseo Del Rio (also known as the Riverwalk), which has been beautifully landscaped with tropical foliage, artistic stairways and arched bridges. |

The day is at leisure to discover San Antonio on your own. Your tour director will be on hand to recommend attractions and sightseeing that will let you experience all the city has to offer. Be sure to shop for one of a kind gifts at the colorful Mexican Marketplace. |
| Day 15 | San Antonio - Carlsbad, NM |
| Today we travel the great desert-like plains of Texas on our way to Carlsbad. |
| Day 16 | Carlsbad - Santa Fe, NM |
| This morning explore the world-famous Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Huge limestone caverns honeycomb the rock; drawing visits from around the world. We will travel down by elevator more than 750 feet to view the caverns first hand. This afternoon pass through vast and open grasslands, punctuated by a few mountain ranges en route to Northwest New Mexico. |
| Day 17 | Santa Fe |
| Today discover the romance, charm and living
traditions of Santa Fe, the oldest capital city in
the United States, including a visit to the Plaza de
Santa Fe. Also visit the Palace of the Governors,
which chronicles the history of the city. |
| Day 18 | Santa Fe - Denver, CO |
| Continue north and cross into Colorado to
Denver. En route we visit the #1 attraction
in the Pikes Peak Region…the Garden of
the Gods Visitor Center and Park, a natural
park containing massive formations of red
sandstone sculpted by nature into intriguing
spires. Here you will see 30 educational
exhibits detailing the natural and human
history of the park including a 12-minute
movie entitled “How Did Those Rocks Get
There?” |
| Day 19 | Denver - Sheridan, WY |
| Cross the beautiful state of Colorado and
continue north to Sheridan, where Wyoming’s
third largest city now spreads over the hilly,
sage-carpeted badlands. Visit Little Bighorn
Battlefield National Monument and imagine the
dramatic battle that resulted in the defeat of
General Custer.
