Day 1Home City / Las Vegas / Laughlin, NV
Depart home city for Las Vegas. Meet your tour director at the airport and transfer to Laughlin, Nevada. Join fellow passengers tonight for a welcome dinner. (D) Tropicana Express Hotel
Day 2Laughlin / Grand Canyon / Flagstaff, AZ
Following a delicious breakfast at the hotel depart for the West Rim of the Grand Canyon on the Hualapai Indian Nation. Arrive at Pearce Ferry Rd at "The Place" where you will board Hualapai vehicles for a four hour sky tour of Grand Canyon West. Then enjoy the Skywalk, the first ever glass bridge to suspend visitors 4000 above the Grand Canyon floor. Board you coach and depart for Flagstaff for the night. (B,L) Quality Inn
Day 3Flagstaff / Tucson, AZ
Today visit the Montezuma's Castle. This ruin is five stories high, has 19 rooms and is 90% original. The visitor's center provides exhibits showing the human history of the area. Arrive in Tucson and enjoy a happy hour welcome reception followed by dinner at La Fuente Restaurant where the food is great and the Mariachi entertainment is festive. (B,D)
Day 4Tucson / San Carlos, MX
Say goodbye to Tucson and travel to the Copper Canyon, crossing the border at Nogales and arriving for lunch at Santa Ana. Our journey then takes you to the city of Herosillo to visit the Cathedral and the murals at the Government Palace. Relax to the sound of waves this evening in San Carlos at your oceanfront hotel. Day 5San Carlos / Alamo, MX
The morning begins with an interpretation of the Sonoran desert flora and fauna, followed by a sea excursion past rugged coves in search of wildlife. Following lunch, travel through the breadbasket of Mexico, the region of the so called "green revolution" near the City of Obregon, where man has turned the desert into a garden. Continue to the foothills of the Sierra Madre at Alamo, Mexico's northernmost colonial city, designated a national monument for the preservation of its architecture and Spanish heritage. Lodging tonight will be at one of the famous B&B's. (B,L,D)
Day 6Alama / El Fuerte, MX
Today travel the fascinating cobblestone streets to visit some of the restored baronial mansions, dating back to the day when Alamo's silver mines were the richest in North America. Meet the Mayo Indians and learn how they have preserved their identity, language and culture. After lunch continue to El Fuerte, Sinaloa, a city founded in 1564 on the banks of the river that bears the same name. Day 7El Fuerte / Copper Canyon, MX
Embark on the "train ride in the sky". Albert K. Owens conceived the idea in the 1800's the utopic dream of an American Trader to link the Midwest and the Sea of Cortes for the China trade. The dream took nearly 100 years to realize, having to elevate the railroad from sea level to 7000 ft in less than 150 miles. Enter the second largest indigenous group in North America after the Navajos. Arrive atop the canyon in the early afternoon. (B,L,D) Mansion Tarahumara
Day 8Copper Canyon
Our day will be dedicated to leisurely viewing of the grandiose scenery of these canyons. Meet the semi-nomadic, cave-dwelling Tarahumaras and view their rudimentary arts and crafts. Time available for some optional hiking and horseback riding. (B,L,D)
Day 9Copper Canyon / Nuevo Casa Grandes, MX
Travel to Creel today via Oteros Canyon. Enjoy lunch en route and then descend to the Chihuahuan Desert and the City of Nuevo Casas Grandes. Enjoy a delicious dinner at your hotel.(B,L,D) Hacienda Hotel
Day 10Nuevo Casas Grandes / Mesa, AZ
Visit the archaelogical site of Paquime, an original trading post between the desert cultures to the North and the advanced civilizations of the Mesoamericans. The will-preserved adobe structures and ceremoial truncated pyramids are a silent tribute to a truly developed culture. Re-enter the US at Douglas, AZ arriving in Phoenix in the early evening. Day 11:Mesa / Home City
Following breakfast transfer to the Phoenix Sky Harbour Airport for your return flight home. (B)
